About: Alliance is the premiere nonprofit organization for welcoming and empowering refugees, immigrants, and underserved residents who face financial, educational, health, language or cultural barriers to realizing their dreams. To help clients overcome those barriers, Alliance provides such holistic services as:

  • refugee resettlement services
  • youth empowerment
  • intensive case management (health and social services)
  • adult education and training
  • workforce training and development
  • financial coaching and literacy
  • health insurance navigation

The Financial Opportunity Center

Through partnerships with the Local Initiative Service Corps, United Way THRIVE, financial institutions and community organizations, provides services for Houston’s low to moderate income, refugee and immigrant populations. These services include public benefits assistance, employment coaching, financial coaching, and financing opportunities. Through a one-on-one coaching approach, FOC staff help clients improve their financial stability.

FOC collaborates with external partners to provide hard-skills trainings, workshops focused on various financial literacy topics, small business development, home buying, credit builder programs, computer skills development, health awareness, and job fairs.
